In the news today . . .

Just found out my picture is going to be in today's paper.  Here is the link:  http://www.bannergraphic.com/story/1581787.html

This was taken a couple of Saturdays ago at the local famer's market.  We've only been there a month selling our lamb meat and wool goods but are doing fairly well.  There are so many markets around that we could hit up and have been asked to do that it is sort of overwhelming.  I don't want to go overboard and do too many as I feel kind of burnt out already!  I certainly can't keep up with making finished goods but we can sell the meat.

Just another direction.  Should we do more markets and focus selling direct?  I don't know . . .

That's a great pic! Just wanted you to know we had lamb stew last night and it was FABULOUS. We're hooked.

Thanks Christine!

Glad you liked the lamb. I feel like we are having gourmet, high end restaurant meals every time I cook lamb - and that is several times a week! Last night was one package of sirloin steaks and one package of loin chops both topped with different seasonings (so there was enough for Jeff's lunch!). Coupled that with fresh steamed broccoli and saffron rice - YUM!

how cool is THIS?! what a great way to promote. I only wish I had time to do A farmer's market, but don't have enough product (yet) to do it, or the time and energy to put towards it. I'm only one person....

But awesome for you guys! :)

Hi Theresa,
We really encourage you to do farm markets! I'm not a meat person, but I know you'll find a good, knowledgable crowd about the importance of "local" at these markets. Our markets here are very strong. People LOVE our yarn and fiber, too! It's a lot of work...we try to get everything ready before supper the day before, then take energy snacks along for the day, and have something easy to heat up for supper afterwards, you'll be tired and hungry! We've been doing events every two weeks, and I think that pace, considering my other responsibilities right now, is a bit crazy. Once a month would be better. I also get asked to knit things for commission by customers who love my wool, but don't knit. This might lead you into knitting/spinning lessons as well so be prepared for how you'd answer that. Advertise your Shetlands, wear your Shetland pin, share your love of them, and have fun! We really enjoy it, the crowds enjoy it, and I bet you will, too! Amy at Wheely Wooly Farm
